Door glass vs side window — the same thing
On most cars "door glass" and "side window" are the same panel — the openable window in the door, sliding up and down in the regulator. We use both terms interchangeably. The job is the same: remove the door card, lift out the broken glass and regulator clips, drop in the new glass, reattach, and test the up/down operation.
Check the regulator while we're in there
A break-in often damages the window regulator (the up/down mechanism) as well as the glass itself — broken plastic clips, bent guides, slipped cables. We check the regulator with the door card off, replace any broken parts there and then if needed, and test the smoothness of the up/down before refitting the card.
Interior vacuum is part of the job
Tempered glass on a side window breaks into thousands of tiny crumbs — into the door cavity, the seat folds, under the dashboard, into the boot if the rear window went too. We vacuum thoroughly before completing the fit. Most replacement quotes from glass-only outfits skip this; we don't.
Same-day where stock allows
Common UK door glass we usually fit same-day or next-day from stock. Specialist makes (older cars, exotic models, some imports) need 24–48 hours for the OE glass to arrive. We tell you the realistic window with the quote.
