Windscreen replacement & repair prices

Real numbers, not "from £X" marketing prices. What windscreen work actually costs across the work we do — and where most of that cost is either insurance-handled or set by the OE glass and your specific vehicle.

Chip repair

On comprehensive insurance: usually £0 — no excess. Paying privately: £50–£90 depending on the size, location and how many chips need fixing. Multi-chip discounts when several need doing in one visit.

Windscreen replacement

On comprehensive insurance: typically the policy excess (usually £75–£100) regardless of glass cost. Paying privately: most cars are £250–£600 for OE-spec glass plus the fit; specialist makes (older cars, performance/exotic models, premium SUVs) £600–£1,800. ADAS calibration is included where applicable, not a separate charge.

Side, rear and door glass

On insurance: same excess as the windscreen claim. Privately: door glass £150–£350, quarter glass £200–£500, heated rear windows £250–£600 depending on the vehicle.

What changes the price of a windscreen replacement?

OE-spec features mostly: heated elements, acoustic laminated glass, head-up display projection layers, ADAS camera mounts, antenna prints. The base price is the glass; the variation is how much technology is in it.
