How a windscreen insurance claim works

Step-by-step plain-English breakdown of how a windscreen claim actually plays out — from the day you spot the damage to the day the glass is fitted and the insurer's paid. Worth knowing the basics before you call anyone.

Step 1 — Confirm you have glass cover

Look at your motor policy schedule. Comprehensive cover almost always includes glass; third-party-only usually doesn't. Glass cover sits as a separate clause — you'll see "windscreen excess" or "glass excess" listed, typically £75–£100.

Step 2 — Book the work

You don't need to call your insurer first. Call us, give the insurer name and your policy number, and we raise the claim on the insurer's system. We work with every major UK insurer and most brokers.

Step 3 — Glass fitted, insurer billed

We fit the glass at your location. You pay the excess to us at the time of the fit (cash, card or transfer); we bill the insurer for the rest. That's it from your end.

Step 4 — Your no-claims and renewal

Glass claims don't affect your no-claims bonus on most major insurers, and don't cause your renewal premium to rise as an at-fault claim would. They show on your claims record as a separate "glass" category, which is what you want.

Approved by every major UK insurer

We raise the claim, fit the glass, and bill the insurer direct. You pay the excess only — usually £75–£100 on a windscreen replacement, often nothing on a chip repair.
